Watch: David Warner turns right-hander, clubs Chris Gayle for a six

It's been close to a year since a piece of sandpaper got David Warner in a soup, and the former Australian captain is out in the middle to make up for all the lost time.

Of the many qualities he possesses as a 'bowling-demolisher', David Warner's ability to be versatile, and switch hands for reverse sweeps, switch hits and whatnots, stands out.

In the middle of a Bangladesh Premier League game for the Sylhet Sixers, the left-handed batsman (erm) decided to have some fun and decided to face Chris Gayle completely right-handed.

Instead of shifting sides and changing his stance midway through the bowler's run-up, Warner faced Gayle's off-spin as a pure right-hander, grip and all, and managed to send the ball sailing, collecting a six and two fours, capping it with a punch of his fists. He looked really charged up!

His final split reads something like this - 47* off 33 as a left-hander, 14* off 3 as a right-handed batsman. The unbeaten 61 powered the Sixers to 187 in 20 overs.

Incidentally, Warner, grew up playing golf as a right-hander because there were only right-handed clubs at his home. He continues the trend, and like Adam Gilchrist and Stephen Fleming, plays the sport as a right-hander.

A story also goes that, as a 13-year-old, Warner was asked to bat as a right-hander by his coach, so as to clamp down on his tendency to hit the ball in the air. After just one season, the experiment was discontinued, and Warner continued his merriment as a 'lefty'.

The 32-year-old has played the switch-hit umpteen times in his career, and has been astonishingly successful with his strokes. In 2016, he was seen practising as a right-hander ahead of a T20I series against South Africa. Sadly, those were also Warner's last opponents in international cricket, before he was sent on a year-long exile.

Given the confidence he is exuding, (ask Gayle, who was at the opposite end of some furious stares), one can expect the Warner of old to return to the yellow and green colours in style.
