Yuvraj Singh admits it is difficult to reach out to MS Dhoni on the phone

Yuvraj Singh and MS Dhoni

All-rounder Yuvraj Singh was at his cheeky best at the launch of his clothing line when asked about limited-overs skipper MS Dhoni’s upcoming biopic, “MS Dhoni: The Untold Story”. When asked about the movie, the 34-year-old said that he was excited to watch the movie and was looking forward to it.

“I want to watch it. I want to see how they have portrayed MS Dhoni. I am excited to watch the film and would like to wish him all the best,” he said.

Later on in the conference, when Yuvraj was asked whether he can expect Dhoni’s support for the line, the left-hander said that the Ranchi-born cricketer was a very busy man and he doesn’t pick anybody’s phone.

“I think he is very busy. I tried to find him, as usual Dhoni doesn’t pick up anybody's phone. So I think he was busy in T20 games in America. I am sure he will help me through this.

“He doesn’t pick up anybody’s phone. Aap bhi phone karoge toh bhi phone nahi uthayega(Even if you call, he won’t pick up your phone). I am sure he is busy with the launch of his film and busy with his cricket in America, so I don’t blame him,” he added.

This isn’t the first time that a cricketer has spoken about Dhoni not being available to speak on the phone.

During his retirement speech in 2012, VVS Laxman said he found it difficult to reach out to the wicketkeeper-batsman and that found sharp criticism come in the way of the 2011 World Cup-winning skipper Sourav Ganguly, who said that a captain should be within reach throughout the day.

“A skipper should be available for his players 24 hours. I don`t know why Dhoni does this... But I think situation would have been different, if Laxman had got Dhoni`s support," he said.

Dhoni’s biopic releases in cinemas on the 30th of September.
