One of the oldest events in cycling, the Tour De France schedule is out for the year 2014. It is a three-stage time trail cycle race. The history of this race dates back to 1903, when the first version of the race took place in France to increase the sales of a sports magazine. The magazine featured football, rugby, motorsports and cycling. This race is currently organized by Amaury Sports Organization. The race has continued annually since that time, except for the years of the World Wars. This race is generally organized in the month of July.

It is a time trail race and all the stages are timed till the finish of the game. After finishing a stage, the cyclist’s time is compounded with the earlier stage times. The cyclist with the minimum compounded time is declared as the winner.

There are various levels of classification in this race including General classification, Mountains classification, Points classification, Young rider classification, Minor classification and others.

The venue for this upcoming 2014 session was earlier announced as Yorkshire in England. Christian Prudhomme – the tour director, declared that the race will be off the mark from first week of July. The first stage will be from Leeds to Harrogate. The second stage is scheduled from York to Sheffield. The last and final stage will be witnessed between Cambridge and London on July 7.

In 2015, the Netherlands, being a foreign nation, will host the race for a record 6th time.

In the last season, Christopher Froome emerged as the winner of the race. This year, the defending champion will be blessed with an opportunity to make the starting sprint in the time trial.
