The Tour of Switzerland entered it’s fourth day on Tuesday with a 174-kilometre mainly flat stage in store.

German Jens Voigt, Belgium’s Olivier Kaisen and Slovenia’s Robert Vrecer broke clear of the main field.

But the peloton pegged their advantage at well below five minutes.

First Kaisen and then Vrecer slipped back, and then with around two kilometres left, Voigt was absorbed into the pack.

It meant a sprint finish – and Arnaud Demare timed his challenge well.

The Frenchman, who rides for FDJ, pipped Australian Matthew Goss (Orica) at the line.

Tyler Farrar was third, ahead of John Degenkolb and Alexander Kristoff.

With Stage three winner Peter Sagan finished seventh.

Mathias Frank came 23rd to retained the yellow jersey.

The Swiss rider is 23 seconds ahead of Czech Roman Kreuziger, with defending champion Rui Costa of Portgual in third, 12 seconds further back.
