5 Real Madrid players with better attributes than Cristiano Ronaldo on FIFA 17

Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo, was crowned the best player in FIFA 17, which was released post his Champions League and European Championships triumphs. Rated at 94, he edged rival Lionel Messi for the honour of the best player in the game after a long period of domination by the Catalan.

While Ronaldo may be the best player in the game with his extraordinary goal scoring capabilities, it is a well-known fact that his all-around game has declined a little. The Portuguese was never a renowned passer of the ball nor a consummate team player and hence his non-goalscoring attributes have suffered a little on FIFA 17.

Ronaldo’s astronomical 94 rating is not enough to make him the best at everything in the game, not even at his club Real Madrid where he is bettered in many attributes by his teammates. Read on to find out which of Ronaldo’s teammates have better-rated attributes on FIFA 17 than the Ballon d’Or winning forward.

#1 Luka Modric

Luka Modric is a midfielder in the mould of an Andres Iniesta

Sitting alongside Toni Kroos in the Real Madrid midfield, Luka Modric is vital in facilitating the Los Blancos dynamic attacking play. Assured and unflappable on the ball with deceptively high acceleration, the Croatian ensures that Real Madrid are always on the front foot regardless of the opposition.

On FIFA 17, Modric is justifiably one of the best midfielders in the game, with some of the best passing attributes and by far the best passer in the Real Madrid squad with a rating of 92. This high-grade passing is also complimented by the Croatians top-notch vision, which is rated at 90, allowing him to slip the BBC with passes through the narrowest of channels.

Apart from passing attributes, the Croatian is also better than his Portuguese teammate at taking free-kicks. Modric's natural flair on the ball and impeccable technique make him an ideal central midfielder, fit to play and more than hold his own alongside the best player in the world, Cristiano Ronaldo.

#2 James Rodriguez

James Rodriguez possesses a wand of a left foot

Real Madrid purchased the services of the precociously talented Colombian after his Golden Boot winning performances in the 2014 FIFA World Cup for a princely sum of around €80 million. Unfortunately for James, the Real Madrid squad is a little too packed with world class talent for even a player of his ability to start regularly.

The Colombian’s lack of game time at Madrid does not mean that the player has lost his touch. James possesses a wand of a left foot which can work wonders with the ball in unimaginable ways.

So much that on FIFA 17, the attacking midfielder has better crossing abilities (88) than Ronaldo, who was a world class winger before evolving into one of the world’s deadliest strikers.

James, as displayed during the World Cup in Rio, seems to have perfected his long range shooting. He has scored a number of belters for Real Madrid and in addition to this jack in the box ability, he is also adept at retaining the ball with a passing rating of 84, which is again better to Ronaldo's 81.

#3 Gareth Bale

Cristiano Ronaldo held the title of the world’s most expensive footballer for a total of three years before Los Blancos splurged €100 million on the services of Gareth Bale from Tottenham Hotspur. The Welshman had arrived on the European footballing scene with a devastating performance against Inter Milan in the Champions League.

Bale was bought as an additional arrow in Real Madrid bow with a view to eventually replicate the Portuguese’s output at Real Madrid. While Ronaldo may still be the star of the show in Madrid, there are some things which the Welshman does better than his Portuguese partner.

On FIFA 17, Bale surprisingly is better at heading the ball than Ronaldo, who has made a habit out of popping up in the box at exactly the right time.

Bale is also better than his partner in crime at putting free-kicks on goal, while also being the more aggressive of the two. Bale is also more of a provider to the cold-blooded finisher that is Ronaldo and as a result, he is also better at whipping in the crosses with his extraordinary vision attributes.

#4 Toni Kroos

Toni Kroos is Real Madrid's midfield lynchpin

The German central midfielder is Real Madrid's midfield metronome. Responsible for setting the tempo of the game and retaining the ball, it is rare to see Der Sniper misplace a pass or lose his cool in possession. Little wonder then, that he was the centrepiece of Pep Guardiola's Bayern Munich team before moving to Real Madrid.

Given that Cristiano Ronaldo is a winger/striker and Kroos a world class midfielder, there are bound to be certain attributes where one is better the other as the two positions require different skillsets. As a result, the German is obviously a better passer than Madrid's No.7 who is not known for his passing anyway.

Kroos is known as the Sniper for a reason and his vision and passing execution is as precise as it gets. His free-kick delivery is also exceptional and his dead ball skills are the common denominator for most of Sergio Ramos heroic headers from corners and free-kicks while also being able to slip in crucial second assists to the club’s much-vaunted attackers.

#5 Danilo

Danilo is often on the bench but some of his attributes are better than Ronaldo

The Brazilian right back seems an unlikely addition to this list filled with more forward thinking players than defenders but surprisingly, he too does have a few attacking attributes that are better than the best player in the game.

Cristiano Ronaldo, earlier in his career was known for the deadly accuracy of his knuckle ball free-kicks and crossing ability from dead balls and open play. The Portuguese's transformation to a No.9 has seen these attributes diminish to the extent that Los Blancos right back, Danilo has a better free-kick accuracy than Ronaldo.

The full-back is also the more aggressive of the two players, with a rating of 74 to Ronaldo's 63 rating, which is not surprising as the former Manchester United winger’s talents lie in waiting in the box to score goals while Danilo always seems to be in hot pursuit of the ball at any given time.
