CS2 IEM Cologne 2024 is scheduled to kick off on August 7, 2024. As the hype builds around the cathedral of Counter-Strike, Cologne, fans are about to witness nerve-wracking clashes between 24 teams from around the world (Asia, Americas, Oceania, and Europe). All teams will be vying for the shiny IEM trophy alongside a massive prize pool of US$1,000,000.

That said, this article will shed some light on the schedule, live stream details, participating teams, and other necessary information regarding IEM Cologne 2024.

Format

Following the trend of IEM Cologne events, IEM Cologne 2024’s play-in stage will be conducted with 16 teams, while eight other teams have directly qualified for the group stage (Stage 2).

As per the new rule, the initial play-in stage will follow BO3 (Battle of 3) matchups to decide the winners. Upon going through a double elimination bracket, eight teams will be promoted to the next stage and will face the rest of the teams.

Based on the standard format, 16 teams will be divided into two groups (A and B) and will also go through a double-elimination GSL format alongside BO3 matchups.

The two leaders from both groups will directly qualify for the Semi-finals, while the second and third-place holders will have to face each other in the quarter-finals stage. While the second-place holders will qualify for the QF with high seeds, the third-place holders will enter the same with low seeds.

Meanwhile, the playoff stage will be a single-elimination bracket, followed by a Grand Final featuring a BO5 (Battle of 5) format.
