Valve changed a lot of things for CS2, from the tick-rate to the character model movement. The game has made several changes that distinguish it from its predecessor, CS:GO, and while most of them have been welcoming, there are a few alterations that have displeased the community. Recently, Redditor u/Fun_Philosopher_2535 took to the forum to compare the movement in CS2 and CS:GO.
The player found the movement in the current iteration of the game inferior to CS:GO. The video also prompted user u/aightletsdodis to call the leg movement in CS2 a complete joke.
"The leg movement in CS2 is a f**king joke... CSGO died for this sh*t :("
One player, u/jonajon91, believed that CS:GO's movement was a little dated. However, it was still better than the current version of the game which has wobbly leg movement.
User u/Denvon_SubZero claimed that they find it almost impossible to react to enemy movements in the current version of Counter-Strike. The player was clearly bothered by the issue and hoped Valve would fix it for good.
"In CS2 when they run it’s almost impossible for me to react. They need to fix this asap."
Not everybody felt that the new animation was wobbly. User u/Puiucs stated that it wasn't as bad as people were making it out to be. They believed the inconsistency was caused by a small delay in leg animation but that didn't affect what the player was trying to shoot at.
Finally, user u/WalkingSlowly preferred the new animations over any old versions of the game, as they feel the new leg movement made headshots and body shots more rewarding for everyone.
"Unpopular opinion: Looks nicer and more fluent in CS2 to me, torso is very stable, rewards aiming for the head and body and punishes ground sniffing spray and pray."
Fans have been comparing Counter-Strike 2 to its predecessor for months now. This begs the question, is the new game really unpleasant to play? Or is it something else entirely?
CS2 might not be as bad as some make it out to be
Counter-Strike 2 came out in September 2023 and ever since then, players have been focused on the many issues the new title has. Cheaters and bot lobbies are abundant, new errors and bugs are discovered quite frequently, and of course, some changes just did not sit right with the audience.
This includes the animation changes as well as the transition to a sub-tick system. In truth, many complaints regarding the game are reasonable. However, there is also a lot of nostalgia attached to these reports. CS:GO is almost always brought up in the conversation for the sake of comparison.
Perhaps it will take a long time for fans to accept Counter-Strike 2. After all, it did replace one of the most beloved FPS titles in gaming history.
