Dota Auto Chess a digital version of board games with Dota2 heroes. The hard working couriers of the Dota2 like to spend their vacation at Drodo Island where they play this version of chess to pass time.
As a player, you are basically the courier but the couriers don't work for the heroes here, it's exactly opposite. The heroes are the pawns you use to win in this 8x8 multiplayer game.
Every player starts the game with 100% HP facing the creep rounds for first 3 rounds, after that the game sends your pawns to someone else's board and someone else's heroes arrive on your board. If you win the round, you get to stay where you are.
If you lose the round, you lose a percentage of your HP depending on how huge your lose is. If you put up a good fight and lose by 1-0 chances are you will lose 1-2% hp while if you lose a board by 10-0 you will lose 15% of your hp with one loss.
The right side in game leader-board shows where you stand compared to other players, the player with the highest HP remaining will be on top and the player with lowest HP remaining will be in the bottom, every player will be eliminated when their HP is gone.
The last player to survive wins the game. It sounds pretty simple but N0tail said, "Dota is a sick mental game" and Auto chess is no less of a brainstorm.
You will see players dropping to 1% of their HP and then defending constantly, holding their position and eventually winning the game. Luck might be a slight factor but honestly, if you understand the game's mechanics you will realize there's no luck.
I will start with some common tips before I move on to the combos, If you are totally new to Auto Chess and Don't know crap about the game then read the combos, if you have already learned a few then here's your chance to see if you can learn any new combo from here.
Honestly, when I casually searched Youtube to learn some combos, it disappointed me. There's not enough "good" tutorial and Bulldogs stream can be fun but I feel that players with more experience can learn from such streams but not the new players, it's really important to break it down to them.
However, shout out to Bulldog for coming up and playing the game, his streams did help a lot of players.
Things You Should Know
1. Don't waste your gold refreshing. Yeah, when someone told me that I did not care but it works. Refreshing will not give you any pawn that it is not giving you anyway. You get pawns based on what your opponents are picking.
Just like any other card game, there's a limit or maximum amount of each card. Now in this game, it does not seem that way but it's true. If other players are picking a lot of Orc-Warrior, chances are you will get them less.
The tray shows you cards that others are less. So keep your gold, refresh once in a while but not too much.
2. Think of a plan and slowly develop the plan as you go. It's important to level up your heroes but it's also important to complete the combo.
If you are making a Warrior-Warlock combo you need 6 slots open for it to work, so don't waste much gold refreshing the page to get that one damn Witch Doctor, you will get it eventually, focus on slots and other heroes until then and slowly work towards leveling up heroes and donkey both.
Top Combos That You Should Know About
#1 Warrior-Assasin: Warrior Assasin is a good combo for new players. Warriors are very easy to find, my tray is almost always offering Tusk, Axe, Tiny, Juggernaut or Slardar. This combo takes fewer slots and less time.
Easier to open six slots, easier to level up the warriors, choose your assassin's wisely and you are good to go. You can have any three assassins you want but you can pick the assassin's who can create another class-effect.
Such as if you have Tiny in your three warriors, you can pick Morphling as one of the assassins.
Tiny and Morph both also fall under the elemental class and elemental only needs two heroes of the same class to activate their special power. So now you have elemental benefits besides having warrior and assassin powers.
#2 Warrior-Troll-Warlock: This is a combo for the players who have been playing for a few weeks. It is a little complicated and hard to achieve combo but it will land you in top 3 for sure, top 4 on a bad day. I had to make some funny videos and because of the throws, my rank dropped to pawn7.
Took me a few hours but I was back to Bishop and all I did was spammed Warrior-Troll-Warlock combo for straight few games. I am not telling you spam this cancer to boost your rank but you know *insert kappa meme*.
The good thing about this combo is you can bend it as you want when you want. the whole takes eight heroes if you count in Witch-doctor as warlock and troll both and troll warlord as warrior and troll.
Problem is Troll Warrior is not available early and most players like to progress with a steady warrior line in front, in that case until 5 slots you can keep 3 warrior and 2 trolls, on your 6th slot opening introduce a demon-warlock like Shadowfiend, it will give you the demon boost.
Then introduce 2 more trolls and 2 warlocks later or you can introduce 4 troll-2warrior at 6th slot opening (considering troll as one of the warriors), and introduce 3 warlocks later.
You can keep one Lycan/Tusk as warrior and Venomancer as Warlock, that will give you a sweet beast bonus damage too. So basically all your heroes are getting attack speed + attack damage + life steal and you have a huge amount of damage, bonus demon damage, bonus spawns of Lycan and Veno which can save your round and make others lose by some extra points.
Trolls give you the boost of extra attack speed to all allies, considering you already know how much damage the assassin deals you can tell why it is a good combo. It can be a 7 slot combo and you can expand it until 9 or even 10.
It takes out the Goblin-Mech lineup very easily. We all know how fat the timber can be but that goblin-mech line up melts in front of this.
Even the beast druid line-up seems helpless as your assassins jump into the opponent backyard and trash their main damage dealers at first sight, after that it's an easy job. Enchantress heal, treant, Timbersaw nothing really stops the Troll Assassin lineup.
#4 Troll-Knight/Knight Warlock:
Troll Knight works the same way troll warlock works. Because there are trolls that are nights - Bat rider. it's easier to make the combos. You have a tanky line-up with good attack speed. Knight line-up can actually defend and attack pretty well against the troll-warlock combo so if someone else is spamming cancer, now you know how to stop them.
#5 Demon-Demon Hunter:
Demons are a very different species. Other classes have their powers unlocked when they are together, demons are opposite. If the board has a presence of more than 1 demon, their powers don't work.
Only 2 demon hunter on the board will allow all demons to have their power. Needless to say each demon deals 50% of pure damage. Antimage and Terrorblade are the only known Demon hunter in the game for now.
So for this line-up, all you need is TB, AM and as many demons as you can collect. You can interlink them by matching their primary or secondary classes.
I was not going to mention this because I thought mentioning one OP combo in one article is enough but here it is. Elemental Mage is a very underrated Overpowered combo.
It is overpowered but not broken. I mean if TB's metamorphosis damage is not broken, this ain't. Elemental-Mage combo deals huge burst damage and wipes out your enemy.
It is very good against Line-ups that have slow or late casters such as SF, Furion or Lone Druid. The line-up focuses on enemies defense and lowers the magic immunity by 50%. It basically stops you from man-fighting or zoning out instead their hero zones you entire board out and wipes it clean.
