What’s the story?
As per Dreamteamfc, hawk-eyed FIFA 17 fans trawling through the game’s code on the EA Sports official website seem to have stumbled upon a few lines that indicate the introduction of a new batch of Legends to the game.
As posted by Reddit users on the FIFA page, the code contains names of the incoming Legends like Diego Maradona and Pele along with brief descriptions of their careers and the records they set.

The “Legends” offering in FIFA 17 is exclusive to the Xbox One and Xbox 360 platforms.
The Legends are footballing greats who became icons in their own right in different eras of football. This has resulted in a variety of footballers being included as Legends, ranging from long retired greats like Franz Beckenbauer to modern day heroes, Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs.
The heart of the matter
The lines of code regarding the Legends appear under the header “LEGEND_DESCR_” in a link which leads to the EA website. There are indications of eight new Legends being added to the game which includes Maradona and the only England captain to lift the World Cup, Bobby Moore.

While it is possible that the new Legends are to be introduced in FIFA 17, there is also a high likelihood that these lines of code are meant for FIFA 18. It is entirely possible that these Legends are meant to be released in the next instalment of the game as it would be illogical to introduce new Legends to the game at such a late stage.
What’s next?
There is no indication yet of EA changing its stance to accommodate the Legends feature in the PS4 and PC versions so users of these platforms should not raise their hopes of being able to play with the new Legends in either FIFA 17 or FIFA 18.

EA’s constant innovations with the FIFA series always improve the gaming experience and the addition of new Legends in the game will only increase its attractiveness. FIFA fans will surely be eager to experience playing with the likes of Bobby Moore.
