EA Will Be Releasing New Need for Speed and Plants vs. Zombies Next Year

It has not been a very successful year for Electronic Arts (EA) in 2018. However, the good news is that some fan favourites will be returning this year. EA CFO and COO Blake Jorgensen has announced that there will be new Plants vs. Zombies and Need for Speed games, which are currently still in the works, scheduled to release in 2020.

EA recently released free-to-play Battle Royale Apex Legends with developers Respawn. EA is also releasing their online multiplayer / co-op game Anthem in 3 weeks time. They are hoping to see success with these two series to boost their quarterly earnings. EA has already released popular sports titles such as FIFA 19 and NBA 2K19, but there will probably be a 2020 drop towards the end of the year.

Although EA has mostly been marketing their big titles and AAA Games (next one we can expect is probably Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order), this is the first time in a while that EA has announced entries in the puzzle and racing genres.

The Plants vs. Zombies series underwent different iterations. The first two games were tower defence puzzles. Then came the release of the third person shooter Garden Warfare and its sequel, Garden Warfare 2. The latest entry into the Plants vs. Zombies series was the collectable card game, Plants vs. Zombies: Heroes. The games mostly released on console but also released on iOS and Android.

The last entry into the Need for Speed was Payback, released back in November 2017. It was the 23rd entry into the series. Need for Speed also has a free-to-play online MMO racing game called Edge, which is currently still in open beta. But it has been a while since we got a good single player racing game from the Need for Speed series and hopefully, the next one will live up to its expectations.
