FIFA Mobile: Sevilla star signing overtakes Messi, Neymar as best dribbler

UC Sampdoria v US Sassuolo - Serie A
Luis Muriel was dubbed as the new Ronaldo Nazario as a youngster

What's the story?

The curious case of FIFA Mobile and its weird rating system continues to confound us all as Sevilla's new summer signing Luis Muriel finds himself ahead of the likes of Neymar and Lionel Messi in the leaderboard. The Colombian attacker, once dubbed as the next Ronaldo Nazario, has clocked a dribble rating of 107, level with Chelsea star Eden Hazard but higher than Messi and Neymar.

In case you didn't know...

FIFA Mobile continues to amass high numbers and the game is hugely popular worldwide. Though it may not be regarded as the best game of FIFA you have ever seen, the unique ratings make it one of the most talked about creations in the recent past.

The heart of the matter

Muriel is among the best overall players out there in FIFA Mobile. The 26-year-old combines pace, trickery and power to unsettle defences but had a few wasteful years at Sampdoria before joining Sevilla earlier this summer. Muriel's 99 overall rating is worse than Hazard and Neymar, but the Colombian international has an almost unbeatable 107 dribbling attribute rating, while his 113 pace rating is also among the best in FIFA Mobile.

In contrast, Messi's dribbling rating is 106, while his former Barcelona team-mate Neymar is also rated 106 for dribbling.

Since joining Sevilla, Muriel has played two matches for Los Nervionses but failed to get off the mark as far as scoring goals is concerned. His forte, however, seems to be getting past opponents and carrying the ball into dangerous areas, leading to his lofty dribbling stats in FIFA Mobile.

What's next?

While FIFA Mobile ratings never cease to amaze us, fans of the console version of EA Sports FIFA have less than a month to wait before FIFA 18 hits the stores. FIFA Mobile will also enjoy an upgrade after the launch of FIFA 18 on 29th September.

Author's take

Muriel's career has been in freefall ever since he was tipped for big things early on in his career. The Colombian forward, in a bid to resurrect his career, has joined Sevilla, who are widely known as the masters of the transfer market for their ability to rope in talented, out of the limelight stars and make them part of a well-oiled machine. Los Nervionses have a new manager in Eduardo Berizzo and whether Muriel's career trajectory also takes FIFA Mobile's course to reach the top remains to be seen.
