With the FIFA 18 ratings refresh released, fans have been buzzing over the inclusions and exclusions of their favourite players in EA Sports' elite gaming franchise. The winter reshuffle this year has seen a host of changes and they have all been positive ones, as the downgrades were excluded this time around.

The ratings refresh from England this time has seen many players move up in their FIFA ratings largely due to their impressive showing on the football pitch. While there isn't too much to argue, one must admit that a few decisions are slightly questionable.

After analysing the players who were lucky to get more than they perhaps deserved, it is now time to take a look at those players who were probably unlucky to not have received more than they did in the reshuffle. These talented stars may feel hard done by considering their electrifying performances for their respective Premier League clubs.

So here are five players who deserved more in the Premier League ratings refresh:

#5 Ashley Young

Watford v Manchester United - Premier League
Young has impressed this season

Probably one player to feel hard done by the FIFA ratings, in general, is Ashley Young. The versatile Englishman has found it hard to cement his place in the Manchester United team in recent years but has always been solid when the manager has called upon him.

This season, in particular, has been a breakthrough one for Young who has received more game time and silenced plenty of critics. It makes his updated rating of 77 look incredibly bleak even when you consider the fact that it is a two-point jump from his previous rating. Underrated to say the very least, we could still see the best of Young in the coming seasons.

#4 Jesse Lingard

Manchester United v Derby County - The Emirates FA Cup Third Round
Lingard has been scoring for fun

One would have to be blind to not see the rapid improvement of Jesse Lingard at Manchester United this season. The pacy winger has terrorised defences in the league and bailed United out on several occasions this season, making the club's big money signings look foolish in the process.

An academy product, Lingard has had to fight and claw his way into the first team. But he has proven his worth to manager Jose Mourinho with some sensational goals and consistent performances. One could argue he deserves more than what he currently has through the ratings refresh and a rating of 80 doesn't do him justice. After all, he has been regularly compared with Lionel Messi on the Internet albeit in good humour.

#3 Christian Eriksen

Eriksen has been brilliant for Spurs

If Harry Kane is the unstoppable force that he is for Tottenham Hotspur, a lot of credit for the same must go to a certain Danish playmaker. There isn't a lot that Christian Eriksen cannot do on a football pitch and setting up goals for his teammates just happens to be one of his favourite pass-times.

Eriksen may have jumped one point to 88 in the ratings but one could argue that his sheer quality and consistency makes him deserve more in a Spurs side that are really starting to impress. A driving force in the attacking lineup, the Great Dane is an automatic selection for passionate FUT fans.

#2 Raheem Sterling

Sterling has excelled for Manchester City

Manchester City fans are on cloud nine at the moment after a dominating performance all through the season. One of the major reasons for said domination has been the contribution of all players and when one focuses on the attacking side of the team, Raheem Sterling's ability and commitment immediately springs to mind.

His attacking prowess of this season is a breath of fresh air when one considers that he was on the verge of falling out of favour with the manager last season and a two-point upgrade this time around probably doesn't do him justice when you see an updated rating of just 84. Nevertheless, Sterling is on the up and it could be a matter of time before he rises even further.

#1 Mohamed Salah

Salah has been the Premier League's best player this season

He has to be the best signing of the season by a mile; Mo Salah has proven his worth to Liverpool like no other player before him. The Egyptian looks rejuvenated and revitalized in the red shirt and he has been pivotal in the plans of Jurgen Klopp this season.

Such has been his dominance in the goalscoring bracket, that a two-point upgrade almost feels like a travesty for a player who deserves so much more. He is rated 85 now, but expect his numbers to be a whole lot better when the next edition of FIFA comes out.
