Following the historic reveal of EA Sports' FIFA 18 player ratings, the world is abuzz with discussions over who made the prestigious top 100 list of the popular franchise and which big players could not quite make the cut. This year's ratings had the usual suspects largely reigning supreme, but as is generally the case, a few surprises did pop up every now and then.

The runaway leaders for FIFA 18 were as usual Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. The duo scored 94 and 93 respectively in their overall ratings, maintaining themselves as the top brass in the process and laying down the law yet again in the gaming world. However, you will be surprised to note that while Messi, in particular, made headlines for his groundbreaking achievements in football, he isn't just overtaken by Ronaldo in this year's current player ratings.

Lionel Messi's 89 pace looks highly impressive at a first glance but his pace attribute is far from the best in FIFA 18. One of the players who are above Messi in this regard is young Man City winger Leroy Sane. His recent goal rush against Liverpool proved what a talented player he is and the German is still just finding his feet at the Etihad.

His 94 pace is largely the reason that his stock continues to rise in Europe and in the next few years we could see him scale even greater heights. For now, he can rejoice the fact that he comfortably beats Messi's pace rating.
