FIFA 18: Chelsea FC star Michy Batshuayi receives 99-rated card from EA Sports

Chelsea v Brentford - The Emirates FA Cup Fourth Round

Michy Batshuayi

What's the story?

Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi has always had a love-hate relationship with EA Sports over the game FIFA 18. After ages of haggling and back-and-forth banter, Batshuayi has finally got his wish and now has been awarded a 99 rating card by the game's makers.

The Belgian took to Twitter to express his glee.

In case you didn't know

Batshuayi's FIFA 18 rating stands at 80. The Belgian was unsurprisingly peeved and began a long-winded Twitter crusade to implore them to raise his rating.

During that entire time, EA's only response was for him to improve his on-field performance.

The heart of the matter

He has been outspoken about his rating with EA and finally, he has been awarded a 99 rating card, presumably to cheer him up as he recovers from injury.

Back in late September, Chelsea FC played Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League and notched up a comeback 2-1 win. Atletico took an early lead, courtesy Antoine Griezmann. However, the London side bounced back through a goal by Alvaro Morata. The match looked like it would end in a draw but striker Michy Batshuayi had other ideas.

Unfortunately, the Belgian's form has taken a beating after he picked up a foot injury on international duty. Reports said that he could be sidelined for almost two weeks.

What's next?

Batshuayi's injury will mean that he will miss at least five games for Chelsea FC. As a result, manager Antonio Conte will have to rely on Alvaro Morata to carry the team forward. Conte also has the option of deploying Eden Hazard, Pedro and Willian as central strikers.

Sportskeeda's take

At long last, Michy Batshuayi has got his wish and the overall rating of his dreams. Now we wonder if EA will do right by Benjamin Mendy and Dele Alli as well, both of whom were also displeased with their FIFA 18 cards.
