Fortnite Tournaments: Epic Games Announces Weekly Tournaments with a Prize Pool of $1,000,000

Epic Games announced a series of weekly tournaments with a prize pool of $1,000,000, which will be held throughout 2019 as part of the Fortnite Competitive Series.

In case you didn't know...

As part of the competitive series, Epic Games, the company behind Fortnite: Battle Royale, announced some of the details of the massive Fortnite World Cup that has a prize pool of $30,000,000. The final rounds of the tournament will be held in New York later this year where the top 100 Solo players and the top 50 Duos teams from around the world are guaranteed a minimum of $50,000. The Solo champion will win an astronomical amount of $3,000,000.

Along with that, Epic Games announced that the company would be going forward to host tournaments on a regular basis throughout 2019, which ensures that there is a prize pool of $100,000,000 up for grabs in 2019.

The heart of the matter

Weekly cash tournaments feature a prize pool of $1,000,000 and will be run through the end of the year.

Not many details are out in the public domain regarding these events, but the company hinted that these tournaments would be hosting a wide variety of modes and formats to appeal to large sections of the Fortnite gaming community.

Additionally, Epic Games will provide tournament tools to select partners for a better Fortnite Competitive experience, which ensures that the entire $100,000,000 is awarded in 2019.

To be eligible to participate in any Fortnite competition, a player must be at least 13 years old (or such other age, of greater, as may be required in such player’s country of residence). Players between the ages of 13 and 17 (or such other age, if greater, as may be required in such player’s country of residence) must have permission from a parent or legal guardian. Players must be in good standing with respect to any Epic accounts registered by said player, with no undisclosed violations. Players must also be free of or served fully any penalties from previously breaking any official Epic rules. The event is void wherever restricted or prohibited by law. What's next?

Fortnite World Cup will be held from April 19, 2019, to July 16, 2019. Further details of the competitive weekly tournaments will be made available in the coming weeks.
