Genshin Impact 5.3 drip marketing reveals Citlali as upcoming playable character

HoYoverse has unveiled the 5-star characters for Genshin Impact 5.3, and Citlali will finally become playable in the upcoming version. She will make her debut wielding Cryo as her element in battle and introduce another unique Nightsoul state skill to the game. Citlali will become playable alongside the Pyro Archon, Mavuika, when the Genshin Impact 5.3 update will be available on January 1, 2025.

Citlali officially revealed for the Genshin Impact 5.3 update

Citlali or Granny Itzili was one of the many characters who appeared in the Natlan teaser trailer, and she is finally set to make her playable debut in the Genshin Impact 5.3 patch.

The Pyro Archon, Mavuika, had the following to say about Granny Itztli:

"I've always thought that Citlali was chief material, and that she'd take that role on eventually. But two hundred years on, and she's still as unenthused about going outside as ever! It might take a figure more fascinating than those light novels for our genius shaman to take greater interest in the real world — but is there really anyone who can do that?"

Citlali is expected to debut as a playable character during the second phase, while Mavuika will have her event wish in phase 1 of the Genshin Impact 5.3 patch.
