Optimizing crosshair in Overwatch 2 can be done by going to the Options menu>Controls>General, and here the reticle category will have everything players need to concern themselves with for the crosshair. The basic settings include just the reticle type, however selecting Advanced will allow modifying crosshairs.

Before we look over the latter, here are all the options for crosshair in Overwatch 2:

  • Default
  • Circle
  • Crosshairs
  • Circle and Crosshairs
  • Dot
  • Line
  • Box
  • Falloff
  • Triwing
  • Square

Players can select whichever they prefer, though the most common ones are Default, Circle, and Crosshairs. The Advanced Options unearth the following settings to tweak:

  • Show Accuracy (Weapon Spread) [On/Off]
  • Color
  • Thickness
  • Rotation
  • Crosshair Length
  • Center Gap
  • Opacity
  • Outline Color
  • Outline Opacity
  • Outline Thickness
  • Outline Shift
  • Dot Type
  • Dot Size
  • Dot Opacity
  • Scale With Resolution

How to change the crosshair for each hero in Overwatch 2

The game is home to a varied roster of characters, each of which plays drastically differently to one another. This ranges from Tanks like the recently reworked Wrecking Ball and Sigma to sniper DPS like Widowmaker and agile Supports like Lucio. By default, the Controls tab modifies settings for all heroes.

However, players can further customize reticle crosshair options for each character as well. To change each hero's crosshair in Overwatch 2, players only need to click on the Change Hero option on the right side of the screen under the General tab of Controls and select the desired hero. They will then be able to modify that hero's reticle settings manually.

Generally speaking, the best settings for the crosshair in Overwatch 2 depend on player preferences; however, the default settings can be a tad cumbersome for many. Those wanting a comfortable solution that does not deviate too much from established norms can go for the following setup:

Type: Crosshairs

Advanced:

  • Show Accuracy (Weapon Spread): Off
  • Color: Light Green
  • Thickness: 1.0
  • Rotation: 0
  • Crosshair Length: 10
  • Center Gap: 8
  • Opacity: 100%
  • Outline Color: Black
  • Outline Opacity: 0%
  • Outline Thickness: 1.0
  • Outline Shift: 1.0
  • Dot Type: Default
  • Dot Size: 2
  • Dot Opacity: 100%
  • Scale With Resolution: On

The jist here is to have a clear, sharp crosshair that is visible even during hectic moments while not obscuring much of the screen. These respective reasons are why we opt for the Light Green crosshairs and average crosshair length.

The former is because it is the least likely color among the bunch to blend into the background of the environment while the latter does not obscure the enemy model view, especially when playing as a sniper.

Players may go lower with the crosshair lengths or they could also consider using a Circle or Dot crosshair for snipers, but the aforementioned crosshairs are fine too. As for crosshair colors, players may choose Yellow/Pale Yellow as well. Do note that whichever color is picked, should not meld into the enemy outline color players have picked either.

This is all players need to know about changing crosshair in Overwatch 2.
