How to fight Jevil in Deltarune

Jevil in Deltarune is a secret boss that you can fight in Chapter 1. This battle is fairly challenging, but you can emerge victorious with the right strategy. To locate and fight Jevil, you will need to find three pieces of a broken key towards the end of the chapter and unlock a hidden door.

To that extent, this article provides a guide to fixing the key and finding Jevil in Deltarune to start the fight.

Steps to fight Jevil in Deltarune

To fight Jevil in Deltarune, you will first need to free him by unlocking a hidden door.

To access this door, first head to the first floor of the castle dungeon in Chapter 1, locate the elevator with a floor marked “????,” and head down. Then, get out of the elevator, follow the path, and speak with Jevil. He will tell you about a key that unlocks the hidden door.

This is where it gets complicated. The first part of the key can be gathered from Seam, the shopkeeper. However, it will be a broken version that you will need to fix for it to work.

Note: To get the broken key from the shopkeeper, select the “Strange Prisoner” dialogue option.

There are two more fragments of the key that you will need to locate. To get the first one, fast travel to Bake Sale and head left. Walk past the two Bloxers and locate the room with the black and white dancers. Move south and continue until Kris seems to be walking on air.

Continue until you reach a secret path with Rabbicks. Move forward by fighting them or running away, and locate the second piece of the key at the end of this path.

The last fragment of the key is locked behind a puzzle. Simply fast travel to the Field and move right until you reach the “card suits” puzzle from earlier in the game. Set the combination to Diamond, Heart, Club, Spade to obtain the final piece of the key.

Now that you have all three fragments of the key, head back to Bake Sale and head north to locate Smith Malius. He will fix the broken key for you.

You now have the fixed key that unlocks the door on the floor marked “????.” Head back there, and you should be able to get through the secret door to fight Jevil in Deltarune.
