The recent Wuthering Waves reveal livestream has made tons of new announcements about the upcoming global launch. The version 1.0 banners will feature the first two 5-star resonators of the game, Jiyan and Yinlin. Both are great characters with tons of potential, which has sparked a debate about which one has better pull value.

Unless you're spending money, players might afford to summon only one of them from the limited banners which will highly affect your early gameplay experience and progression. This article will serve as a comprehensive guide to help players determine which character is more suited for their comfort, playstyle, and current team composition in the 1.0 update.

Wuthering Waves's recent official announcements have confirmed that Jiyan will be the first 5-star resonator to debut. He will appear on the banners on the same day as the global launch.

Jiyan is an Aero Broadblade resonator and can be considered a self-sufficient DPS in the game. His ultimate has great crowd control which makes him an excellent option for AoE scenarios where you're dealing with tons of enemies. However, during single-target situations, Jiyan can fall a little behind damage if compared to Calcharo and other DPS resonators in Wuthering Waves.

Speaking of team building, Jiyan teams are relatively easy to build with tons of damage potential. Considering he is the first 5-star DPS and many more will debut in future updates, there is a slight chance he might get power crept by newer units.

After Jiyan's banner, Wuthering Waves will drop Yinlin's banner featuring her as the second 5-star resonator to debut in version 1.0 banners. She is an Electro Rectifier who can act as an off-field Sub-DPS and an excellent support. Her kit provides incredible buffs for electro resonators but others can also take advantage of it.

Most of her abilities aid short-range DPS characters by dealing tons of off-field damage to nearby enemies. This will allow the main damage dealer to focus primarily on the main boss enemy. In team scenarios, you will always want to pair your Yinlin with any DPS resonators (preferably Electro ones like Calcharo).

Players must already know that future banners will feature more DPS and support units. Considering Yinlin's exceptional support kit, there is a very low chance of her getting power crept by future units.

Conclusion

Skills matter more than meta in Kuro Games (Image via Kuro Games)

Wuthering Waves is one of the few games where the combat highly favors the player's skill over team composition or meta. Those who want an all-rounder DPS at the start of the global launch can pick Jiyan, while others can opt for Yinlin if they want someone to support other DPS on the team.

The 5-star resonators have better base stats and provide a comfortable gameplay experience when clearing some of the game content. However, players with high-skill ceilings can achieve the same level of damage and comfort with 4-star resonators as well. Ultimately, pick the resonator you are interested in and will enjoy using inside the game.
