Have we already been spoiled on some of the DLC for Mortal Kombat 11?

Mortal Kombat 11 is just around the corner, with its release slated for April 23rd, 2019. In the previous two titles in the series, we saw some pretty interesting guest characters. In Mortal Kombat (2011) we saw Freddy Krueger and Kratos. In Mortal Kombat 10, Leatherface, Jason Voorhees, Predator, and the Xenomorph from Alien were added later as DLC.

With the rumours that Netherrealm Studios will be bringing Spawn on for Mortal Kombat 11, fans have been eagerly anticipating the announcement for crossover or guest characters. We've yet to see anything official, but earlier today, Hideki Kamiya, director for PlatinumGames, hinted that we may see a certain gun-wielding witch in the upcoming fighting game.

In a lot of games that add crossover characters, they usually don't make sense. As cool as it is to fight using Yoda or Darth Vader, there was no reason to have them in Soul Calibur IV. Some have felt the same way about The Walking Dead's Negan who will be released later this week for Tekken 7. However, along with Spawn, Bayonetta is definitely someone that would fit in this brutal, realm swapping universe.

Bayonetta, after all, is known for using some pretty grotesque methods to wipe out hordes of enemies. Along with demon summoning, and the game's focus on combos, it makes a lot of sense to bring her into Mortal Kombat. Also, it might be a move by PlatinumGames to help promote the upcoming Bayonetta 3, which may be released later this year.

If Kamiya and the rest of Platinum were hoping to build some hype for the third game in the trilogy, putting Bayonetta on the roster of an eagerly anticipated fighting game would definitely do the trick. Considering MK 11 is being released on Nintendo Switch, as well as PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, it's possible she'll be an exclusive character to the Switch. It wouldn't be the first time we've seen games to this before. In fact, Kratos was exclusive to PlayStation back during Mortal Kombat's reboot.
