Twitch streamer Zack "Asmongold" has commented on the latest Pokemon GO player avatar update. For those out of the loop, the game's developer, Niantic, announced the "Rediscover GO" update on April 16, 2024, which included a number of new features such as improved in-game visuals, augmented reality gameplay enhancements, and updated player avatar customization options.

During a Twitch stream, Asmongold came across a submission on his official subreddit, displaying the updated player character model in Pokemon GO. The co-founder of One True King (OTK) expressed surprise at the situation, saying:

"What is this here? 'Niantic, what the f**k?' What is this? What is this, an update? What the f**k? Why would someone do this? Why would this happen? Is this real? (The streamer reads out loud a Redditor's comment) 'I can't verify this, but I read a post from someone who claims to know what's going on inside Niantic on this sub. There's a Niantic staff member who is favored by management and their project is these customizable new avatars.'"

The streamer added:

"I don't know, man. Like, I mean, this has to be, like, a mistake. Right? Yeah, it's got to be a f**king mistake. 'Dog s**t.' Yeah, this is like scuffed Palworld, guys."

"Made all the characters fat and ugly" - Asmongold gives his take on the most recent Pokemon GO character avatar update

During a livestream on April 20, 2024, Asmongold discussed a post by X user @Bonquisha888888 that featured an updated player character avatar in Pokemon GO. Chiming in on the matter, the Twitch star said:

"Look at this. They made an update for Pokemon GO that made all the characters fat and ugly. Isn't that f**king sad? Did you guys see this? 'What the f**k.' Yeah, I don't even know what to think about this."

Zack once again questioned whether the update was a "mistake":

"How do you even do this? I feel like it had to have been, like, a mistake or something. I can't imagine, like, it happened on its own."

A few days ago (on April 17, 2024), Asmongold spoke about the introduction of female Custodes in Warhammer 40K by claiming that Games Workshop "reconned" it for a "political reason." The content creator also argued that the game developer should have handled the situation better.
