Pokemon Go: Catch a Shiny Meltan As Part of the Lunar New Year Event 

Niantic has something special in store this Lunar New Year in Pokemon Go. In case you missed it, there is a special event in light of the Chinese New Year with different bonuses available. This time, there is also a special event for Steel-type Meltan, the rare mythical Pokemon exclusive to Pokemon Go and Pokemon Let's Go: Pikachu and Let's Go: Eevee.

Shiny Meltans can be obtained from Mystery Boxes from February 5 at 1 PM PST until March 4 at 11:59 PM PST. In order to get Mystery Boxes, you will need to trade Pokemon from Pokemon Go to Pokemon Let's Go: Pikachu or Let's Go Eevee. Under normal circumstances, the Mystery Box can only be reopened every 7 days. For the special event, the time taken to reopen a box will be reduced to 3 days. If you don't immediately bag a shiny Meltan, worst case, you can hoard Meltan Candy if you want to evolve your Meltan into a Melmetal.

A warning though, connecting your Pokemon Go to your Let's Go can be painfully excruciating sometimes. You only need to connect the Bluetooth of your phone to the Bluetooth of the Switch. But the Switch has been having issues with the Bluetooth since launch. There are not many instructions or troubleshooting guides available for this, sadly. Shiny Meltans look quite similar to regular ones. But if you want to get a Shiny one and evolve it into a Shiny Melmetal in Go Park, then you should give it a shot. Do remember to open the boxes only after the event starts, otherwise, you have a 7 day waiting period again. Check out Niantic's page about the same update.
