Fallout London has hooked a lot of veterans and newcomers, but the game is much harder than Fallout 4. It's suspiciously hard, too, because some players have unknowingly stepped into a bug that halves their damage output. The bug is related to a type of collectibles called "Coasters" for beer mugs, also termed by the community as "beer mats."
Thankfully, some fixes are available if you want to step out of this bear trap of a glitchy interaction.
What is the beer mat bug in Fallout London?
As par for the course with Fallout games, Fallout London's ruddy streets are waylaid by odds and trinkets. Most of them are scrapyard junk, but some collectibles make the scavenging experience worthwhile.
Magazines make a return from Fallout 4, but they now have a twin in "Coasters" or "beer mats." Beer mats come in several types and confer specific types of stat boosts.
The insidiously buggy interaction is with the "Combat Coaster." These are tailor-made for brawlers and Blitz builds, giving you 5% additional melee damage for every Combat Coaster in your inventory.
In effect, though, the mod's spaghetti code results in the beer mat taking away half of your damage. This isn't just melee weapons, but all of them, and a game-ruining debuff to have on higher difficulties.
A beer mat of this type can be picked up at The Hound, an abandoned pub right next to Swan & Mitre, the Vagabond HQ most players will likely frequent in the early game.
If you happen to have a side-adventure and pick this up in a moment most unfortunate, you've now permanently nerfed your DPS by half, unless you try one of the following fixes.

How to fix the beer mat bug in Fallout London
Until Team FOLON releases a patch, you'll have to resort to some unofficial fixes. The simplest of these is a console command:
- Open the console in-game by pressing tilde (~).
- Paste the following line: player.removeperk 0727E475.
- If the command doesn't work, you have an unorthodox load order on your Fallout London copy. In this case, type in help "beer mat" 4 and then use the perkID from there to remove the perk.
This is the cleanest method and shouldn't cause any further bugs later down the line. However, you need to enter this console command again if you pick up another Combat Coaster in your journey. For a more permanent fix, pick up the Beer mats fix mod from Stemajzl, found in Nexusmods.
