PUBG: 5 Reasons why PUBG Mobile is the most popular battle royale game right now

PUBG MOBILE

PlayerUnknown's BattleGrounds aka PUBG was released as a PC game at first. The newly released game managed to attract players all over the world and it was a super hit after the release. PUBG definitely is not the first game of its kind as battle royale games existed before but PUBG was the first ever game to make the genre popular.

The game obviously did better than expected as it started earning players very fast and a lot of games were partially abandoned because of the craze that PUBG created. This was the very first time a game gave competition to Counter-Strike and DOTA 2 in the south-east Asia region.

Very soon the game was released on mobile and that was the time when it exploded with a big bang. Within 1 week of the release, the game earned 60 million players from only South-East Asia region. Now that is not only great but it's a massive and probably the craziest thing to happen to any game ever released on mobile. Add to that, Tencent Games have also announced the launch of PUBG Lite, a toned down version of the game.

Here are the 5 reasons why I think PUBG is the hottest battle royale game right now.

#1 Mobility

This is the biggest reason behind PUBG mobile's success. A battle royale PC game was made available to every mobile user who can play the game from anywhere. This game changed the landscape of mobile gaming entirely.

Actually PUBG mobile developed a pseudo-LAN scene for mobile gamers. Before we had to go to a computer cafe to play a game on LAN together, with PUBG mobile your LAN party is in your pocket.

Sit anywhere with your friends and play the game. You can literally have a LAN party anywhere with PUBG mobile. Being available on mobile was the biggest advantage for PUBG. It gathered a lot more user after the mobile release.

#2 Cross-Platform Matchmaking

Even though PUBG PC is isolated as a PC game, PUBG Mobile is not. With the official emulator launch now PC players can play PUBG "Mobile" on their PC. The best part about the emulator is that it is not a different game with a different server. PUBG emulator is an extended part of PUBG mobile.

You can play PUBG on your computer and at the same time play with your buddies who play the game on the handheld device. The servers and ranking system is the same. The emulator is basically helping to play the mobile game on your computer which kind of defeats the purpose of having PUBG PC at all.

Why buy the PUBG PC when you can play PUBG on your computer for free?

The emulator is the game's official extension and will not ban your account as long as you are not using other 3rd party software.

#3 Being Available on Mobile

Being available on mobile gave the highest boost to the PUBG player base. This is a common fact that there are more mobile users than there are PC users. On top of that, PUBG PC came out with a price tag of 999 INR. The mobile version offered you a free game.

Even though PUBG PC was super hit after coming out, PUBG mobile did beat that record by miles when it gained 60 million players within the very first week in a single region. There are a limited number of PC gamers and a lot of those are already "grinding" hard on other games like DOTA 2 or Counter-Strike.

This will, of course, slow down the process of gaining regular players. On the other hand, PUBG Mobile can be played by anyone at any time, it's easy to learn, does not have a lot to do with reflex or muscle memory and most importantly it is first of its kind to be available on a handheld device.

#4 Introduction of Emulator

Yes! This is playing a large part behind the fame of PUBG Mobile. Most of the streamers who stream PUBG mobile have started using the emulator. It allows you to play the free-to-play mobile game on your computer, on the other hand, PUBG's original PC version will cost you 999 INR.

Emulator did not only help the streamers but a lot of people who are in PC gaming joined the game because of it. Many players wanted to play PUBG but the PC version was not cheap which held them back.

Now the emulator offers you the free-to-play game on your computer which attracted a lot of PC players to join the game.

#5 Ranking and Matchmaking System

PUBG ranking system allows new players to contest against others. The ranks are easier to increase and it does not take a lot of effort to push your ranks up. However, once you go ahead of Gold, the game will get tougher as you will encounter fewer bots and more real players. Bots are useless and almost suicidal. On the other hand, real players will use strategies to stay alive and do way more damage with each bullet.

The game decides your skill level using 9 different factors present in the game. Ranking and skill level is not the same in PUBG. If you are silver and you play as good as Ace, then chances are you will face a lot of players with ACE in your games or players who are like you, low ranked but highly skilled.

The ranking system will motivate new players to play more and contest to reach a higher rank while matchmaking will still be balanced because of the skill-based matchmaking system.
