Online Multiplayer games are way different from single-player games because of a few reasons. Communication is one of them. In a single-player game, you play against the AI, in a multiplayer game you play against other humans like you who can get frustrated or angry. And make no mistake, most of the gamers are very outspoken when it comes to the game. The world of online multiplayer gaming is very uncivil. And trust, this is part of the culture.

Why is it a part of the culture?

Online multiplayer games allow you to play against other players just like you. When you play against the AI, everything depends on your mechanical skill. But when you play against another human being, "Mind games" become a part of it. Online multiplayer strategy games are played 50% with your mechanical skill and 50% inside your head.

This is the same as "sledging" in cricket. Player will try to intimidate you, make you angry and expect you will make a mistake because of your anger. Players often abuse the enemy team to ruin there concentration. This has been a part of the competitive gaming culture even before online gaming was a thing. If you have played DOTA1 or CS 1.6 on a LAN, then you know it all.

But then why is it a problem now?

The problem started after PUBG was released on mobile. Why? that's very simple. On the computer, PUBG was accessible to players who are already gamers and playing games for years. They are used to this culture. With the mobile release, PUBG reached everyone from 8 to 80. A large part of the PUBG player base had never played something similar before. Most PUBG Mobile players tasted the world of multiplayer online gaming for the very first time through PUBG. If they are not used to this, they will be overwhelmed.
