XDefiant will reportedly allow players to select servers in the upcoming update

According to a recent X post by @XDefiantHub, the developers plan to include a feature that lets players select servers of their choice. Netcode has been an issue for the arena shooter players since its launch. It causes various in-game issues, preventing players from having a smooth experience. However, including this feature might fix this problem by redirecting players to their preferred servers.

Based on a screenshot of an X post by the popular XDefiant data leaker, user @ReeceHendrix wondered whether players will get to choose the server of their choice. In response, Mark Rubin, XDefiant’s executive producer said this feature is on the to-do list. It might get implemented in future updates. However, he has yet to confirm a date for its execution.

Popular titles like Valorant, Escape from Tarkov, and Overwatch 2 already use the feature to provide a lag-free experience for players. This feature lets players select their preferred servers before queuing for a game. Usually, most players select servers with lower ping and are nearest to them. Thereby, they can enter a match with a lag-free experience.

Providing the Server select option will allow players to have a lag-free experience in-game. Therefore, implementing such a crucial feature will likely allow XDefiant developers to take one step further toward making it an esports-ready game.
