The illusion version of Corrupted Monk serves as one of the main bosses in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. She can be found at the end of the Mibu Village and defeating her is necessary to obtain the shelter stone and progress through the story.
Now, this battle with the Corrupted Monk is fairly easy once you figure out her basic move sets and what's even better is that you only get to beat her once. Yes, this battle has only one phase so cheer up already.
Okay, first of all, bringing the Phantom Kunai with a swarming upgrade is heavily recommended. Using it will bring down most of her health. However, even if you don't own it then there's nothing to worry. I beat her easily without one and so can you.
Now two of the most important of her moves that you need to be careful about are:
#1. Numerous sweeping attacks at once:-
This is undoubtedly her major attack that will kill you easily if you're not careful. Whenever she'll catch you real close, she will start to rain this attack. Now, this consists of 5 consecutive ones and you got to deflect each one of them at the appropriate time otherwise Sekiro's posture will fill immediately, making him vulnerable to a death blow.
I recommend deflecting till the fourth one and after that immediately dash forward to face her back and put out multiple attacks of your own because she will be completely open at that moment for a couple of seconds.
#2.When she starts walking towards you while pointing her fingers:
Don't let her fool you. This might look like as if she wants a hug but she only wants your head back to her home. This one is a ferocious bottom-to-top slashing attack that will kill you easily if you're not careful. As soon as her attack lands, quickly jump up to avoid her. What's even better is that you'll land right behind her, giving you ample opportunity to deal some major damage to her.
When the red kanji symbol flashes:
We all know that whenever that red symbol flashes it is a moment of panic and a lot of incorrect button smashing. Illusion version of the Corrupted monk offers two of such attacks.
One is a thrust attack that can be countered by the Mikiri Counter and a sweeping attack that you can jump and avoid easily.
Rest of her attacks are fairly easy to deflect and dodge. The only moves that you need to be careful about are the ones I mentioned and you'll bring her down in no time.
