In the most absurd speculation of the year, the rumour have been flying around that Sony Interactive Entertainment might be planning to buy Take Two Interactive as their first party studio which consists of the most acclaimed studios such as Rockstar Games and 2K sports.

The speculations began in the first place because of a Marketwatch citing Joel Kulina, Head of Technology and Media Trading at Wedbush Securities who stated the following-

Sony is in advanced board level discussions to acquire Take-Two Interactive in a mostly cash deal.

It's not sure what that actually means but in light of this recent spark, Take Two's stock has sure gone up, to be precise- 4.5%. Sony's stock has risen as well in light of the rumors floating around.

If this news is surely true then this would turn out to be one of the most controversial decision in the gaming industry. Seeing the enormous success of Grand Theft Auto 5 which is the fastest selling entertainment product in history and has sold 95 millions copies across PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox One and Xbox 360, it will no doubt shift the market completely to Sony's side if the next entry- Grand Theft Auto 6 is a PS5 exclusive.

Not just that,Rockstar Games' other major hits such as Red Read series whose sequel recently released on the PS4 and Xbox One to universal critical acclaim would also become a PlayStation exclusive along with the heavily rumored next entry in the Bully series.

Sony Interactive Entertainment just might pull this move, seeing both the companies have a good relationship and the PS4 have received exclusive content on both Red Dead Redemption 2 and Grand Theft Auto 5's online mode in past.
