Warner Brothers Westworld mobile game has been taken off Google Play Store and iOS App Store on 15 January 2019. The game was subject to a lawsuit by Bethesda, known for games such as Skyrim and Fallout. Players who have the game on their phones will no longer be able to use microtransactions to purchase anything. The game will still be online till 16 April 2019, following which it will go offline. The Westworld mobile game was supposedly a "blatant ripoff" of Bethesda's mobile app, Fallout Shelter. There was no mention in any official statement that the game was shut down due to the lawsuit, only that there will be a shutdown.pic.twitter.com/y7NS7QeSlX— Westworld Mobile (@WestworldMobile) January 15, 2019The game was initially met with some hype because it was based on HBO's popular TV series Westworld. The story of the lawsuit was covered by PC Gamer. Bethesda released a management style game based on the Fallout series called Fallout Shelter, way back in 2015.Both the Westworld game and Fallout Shelter were made by a mobile game development company, Behaviour Interactive. Behaviour Interactive was also sued by Bethesda together with Warner Bros. Not only was the game similar, but the intellectual property, game design, code and much more were also found in the Westworld game. There was also a bug which appeared in Westworld, which was similar to what appeared in Fallout Shelter during its release. The lawsuit has now been settled and Bethesda has won over the case again Behaviour Interactive and Warner Bros. There were no settlement terms released to the public, but what we do know is that the case cannot be brought back to court at all. So this is the end of the road for the Westworld mobile game. However, Fallout Shelter will still available on both Google Play and ioS App Store. Please share your thoughts on the situation in the comments
