FIFA ratings: Virat Kohli compares himself with Cristiano Ronaldo
What's the story?
Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli's All Heart FC will take on Ranbir Kapoor’s All Stars FC in the celebrity football match at the Andheri Sports Complex in Mumbai on October 15. Ahead of the 2017 Celebrity Clasico, Kohli spoke about the game and the role each cricketer will take up. In that interview with Jatin Sapru, he joked about how he’s the perfect footballer, as he is capable of playing in any position on the pitch.
But the most interesting part of the conversation was when he gave himself a FIFA rating. When asked about it, he said: "Someone asked me what would be FIFA rating, I said 98. Not below that at all. I am good at shooting, my right foot is good, my left foot is good. As a footballer, I think I am a complete player. In my head I am Ronaldo."
He continued, "I feel that the best part of my game is sprinting and passing the ball accurately to the guys who score goals."
Heart of the matter
Virat Kohli's dedication and consistency on the cricketing pitch can be aligned together with Cristiano's consistency on that football pitch. Both the superstars have one thing in common i.e Hunger to be the best in the world.
As Cristiano once said in an interview, "Talent is not enough to be the best, you need tremendous hardwork to be combined with it to be the best in the world!"
India could have been a footballing giant, if it would have invested properly in football. Not only Kohli, even Dhoni wanted to be a professional goalkeeper but lack of proper infrastructure hampered their's and many other player's dream of playing for India. Hope someday we have a high rated Indian player in FIFA!
And also, Virat's football hero Cristiano Ronaldo has the highest rating in the game of 94 in the latest edition of FIFA, so we think that Virat Kohli might have overrated himself just a little bit. But if we consider Virat's in-form card or the Team of Season card, then he has got his this spot on!
