Visceral Games uploads new developers diary video for Battlefield: Hardline, discusses games TV Show Style storyline

The singleplayer mode will focus on the Miami Police Department and new recruit, Nick Mendoza

EA has uploaded a brand new developers diary video explaining the design and direction of the singleplayer storyline in Battlefield Hardline. The developers had mentioned earlier that the game would be heavily inspired by TV crime shows, and Battlefield Hardline’s singleplayer storyline will be following the same theme with a unique episodic-style storymode. The developers diary video also showcases some behind-the-scenes footage with the development team as well as some cool new gameplay shots.

According to the video, the singleplayer mode will have a TV show styled design. The story, which will unfold across 10 TV show-like episodes, focuses on the Miami Police Department and their new recruit, Nick Mendoza. It seems that Visceral Games have gone the extra mile to develop this unique episode-style storymode and their developers diary video reveals more about the mode and how it all fits.

Battlefield Hardline writer, Tom Bissell, also explained how they wanted the game to have some comedy in it without it feeling “silly”. The cop show theme aims to help keep the game on track. Bissell also revealed Visceral’s plans for the storyline by stating that “Battlefield Hardline doesn’t reinvent the video-game storytelling wheel. Our goal, however modest it might sound, was to try to achieve a tone that games don’t often have.”

Battlefield: Hardline is slated to release on March 17th for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC. The team have also uploaded a new gameplay video showcasing the games singeplayer mode. You can check out the developers diary video below:
