South Africa vs Sri Lanka, 2nd ODI: Dream11 Prediction, Playing XI Updates & Fantasy Cricket Tips - March 6th, 2019

The Sri Lankans were completely outplayed by a rampant South African side in the first ODI, courtesy of a Faf du Plessis hundred. Failure of their openers and lower order collapse proved to be the downfall of the visitors in the first ODI.

With the World Cup just around the corner, Sri Lanka would want to turn their fortunes around when they face the hosts in the second ODI at the SuperSport Park, Centurion. South Africa, on the other hand, put out a thorough performance with their bowlers putting on a tidy shift with wickets at regular intervals. The Proteas walk into this match as the clear favourites.

Squads to choose from:

South Africa:

Faf du Plessis, Quinton de Kock, Reeza Hendricks, Rassie van der Dussen, David Miller, Dwaine Pretorius, Willem Mulder, Dale Steyn, Kagiso Rabada, Imran Tahir, Lungi Ngidi, Tabraiz Shamsi, Andile Phehlukwayo, Anrich Nortje

Sri Lanka:

Lasith Malinga, Avishka Fernando, Upul Tharanga, Oshada Fernando, Dhananjaya De Silva, Angelo Perera, Priyamal Perera, Thisara Perera, Kusal Mendis, Kusal Perera, Niroshan Dickwella, Isuru Udana, Akila Dhananjaya, Kamindu Mendis, Vishwa Fernando, Kasun Rajitha and Lakshan Sandakan.

Playing XI Updates:

South Africa:

In their plight to finalize their squad for the upcoming ICC World Cup 2019, South Africa are entitled to make a few changes. Dale Steyn could return to the side instead of Kagiso Rabada to give him a well-deserved rest while Andile Phehlukwayo could also return at the expense of Dwaine Pretorius.

The batting looks solid with Faf du Plessis and Quinton de Kock in supreme touch as Dussen continues to perform consistently for South Africa in the shorter formats.

Possible XI: Quinton de Kock(WK), Reeza Hendricks, Faf du Plessis(C), van der Dussen, David Miller, Mulder, Phehlukwayo/Pretorius, Steyn/Rabada, Nortje, Imran Tahir, and Lungi Ngidi.

Sri Lanka:

With a flat pitch on offer at the SuperSport Park, Sri Lanka should persist with the same eleven that played in the first ODI. Kusal Perera, Fernando and Dhananjaya de Silva threw away promising starts as Sri Lanka capitulated from a position of strength to get bundled out for 231.

Spinners haven't fared well in Centurion in recent history, which could see Isuru Udana come in for Lakshan Sandakan. Thisara Perera is one to watch out for with the all-rounder putting out good performances against New Zealand and also in the BPL 2019.

Possible XI: Upul Tharanga, Niroshan Dickwella(WK), Fernando, Kusal Mendis, Kusal Perera, Dhananjaya de Silva, Thisara, Akila Dhananjaya, Udana/Sandakan, Lasith Malinga, and Vishwa Fernando.

Pitch Report:

SuperSport Park is known to favour the pacers with its reputation as one of the quickest pitches in the country. The last match played here saw Pakistan score in excess of 300, only to be denied a win by an equally impressive Reeza Hendricks in a rain-curtailed encounter. Batsmen should find stroke play easy on this pitch with scores in excess of 250 expected on Wednesday.

Fantasy Tips and Suggestions:

Wicket-keeper: Quinton de Kock was at his belligerent best with a boundary-laden fifty in the first ODI. He is the preferred wicket-keeper for this match as well, although Niroshan Dickwella isn't a bad option to go for with his attacking instincts in the powerplay overs.

Batsmen: South African captain, Faf du Plessis, and Reeza Hendricks are good for a big score on Wednesday while the likes of Kusal Perera, Kusal Mendis, and opener, Upul Tharanga are all viable options from Sri Lanka. Perera has been in good form throughout the tour and is bound to score some runs against a formidable South African bowling attack.

All-rounders: Thisara Perera and Willem Mulder are the preferred options in the all-rounder department while Dwaine Pretorius could slot in for Mulder, depending on his selection in the side.

Bowlers: Lasith Malinga and Imran Tahir are their respective teams' go-to bowlers and are bound to pick a wicket or two in the upcoming match. Along with them, youngsters, Lungi Ngidi and Vishwa Fernando are also viable options to have in the side while Kagiso Rabada could replace Ngidi, provided he plays on Wednesday.

Captain: Quinton de Kock is the front-runner for captaincy along with fellow opener, Reeza Hendricks. Hendricks is in the midst of a good run with brilliant performances in the MSL 2018 and against Pakistan in the ODIs. He should be backed to score some runs while Thisara Perera is also an outsider for the same.

Fantasy Suggestion #1: Quinton de Kock(WK), Faf du Plessis, Reeza Hendricks, Kusal Perera, Kusal Mendis, Thisara Perera, Willem Mulder, Lungi Ngidi, Imran Tahir, Lasith Malinga, and Vishwa Fernando. Captain: Quinton de Kock

Fantasy Suggestion #2: Quinton De Kock (WK), Reeza Hendricks, Rassie van der Dussen, Kusal Mendis, Upul Tharanga, Thisara Perera, Andile Phehlukwayo, Imran Tahir, Kagiso Rabada, Lasith Malinga, and Vishwa Fernando. Captain: Reeza Hendricks
