With only a handful of games left in the Super Smash 2018-19 season, both Wellington Firebirds and Central District Stags are firmly in the running for a playoff berth. While the Central Districts have been good in patches with Tom Bruce leading the charge on more than one occasion, Wellington has relied heavily upon their openers Devon Conway and Michael Bracewell. With both heavily equipped batting units set to collide on Friday at the Basin Reserve, lots of boundaries are expected with a lot at stake for both teams.

Squads to choose from:

Wellington Firebirds:

Hamish Bennett (C), Devon Conway, Tom Blundell, Michael Bracewell, Luke Woodcock, Ollie Newton, Jeetan Patel, Logan van Beek, Ben Sears, Rachin Ravindra, Malcolm Nofal and Troy Johnson.

Central Districts Stags:

Tom Bruce(C), Wiggins, Dean Foxcroft, Ajaz Patel, Josh Clarkson, Seth Rance, Bevan Small, Blair Tickner, Ben Wheeler, George Worker, Will Young, and Doug Bracewell.

Playing XI Updates:

Wellington Firebirds:

A brilliant Devon Conway hundred led Wellington to win over Otago. With Jimmy Neesham unavailable, Logan van Beek could return to the side while Nofal is also another option. The bowling is fairly settled with the captain, Hamish Bennett leading the line along with young Rachin Ravindra coming to the fore with a three-wicket haul in the previous game.

Possible XI: Conway, Bracewell, Blundell(WK), Johnson, Woodcock, Ravindra, Van Beek/Nofal, Newton, Bennett, Sears, and Patel.

Central Districts Stags:

After a poor performance against the Northern Knights, much is expected from them as they aim to seal a preliminary final spot along with Auckland sitting in second place. Tom Bruce is key for them 291 runs to his name this season while Blair Tickner's performances have earned him a call up to the national side as well. The return of Doug Bracewell boosts the team's fortunes as well. All eyes will be upon George Worker who is playing his 100th T20 match tomorrow.

Possible XI: Young, Worker, Foxcroft, Bruce(C&WK), Clarkson, Wiggins, Bracewell, Tickner, Wheeler, Rance and Ajaz Patel

Fantasy Tips and Suggestions:

Wicket-keeper: Tom Blundell is the ideal choice for this slot with his recent form being considered. He hit a wonderful fifty to play second fiddle to a rampant Devon Conway and much of the same is expected from Blundell against CD as well.

Batting: Tom Bruce and Michael Bracewell are viable options to have in the side considering the fact that both players have scored in excess of 200 runs and are itching to go big as well. Either of Dean Foxcroft or Devon Conway would also do the trick for your fantasy teams.

All-rounders: With a number of all-rounders in availability, Doug Bracewell should be the first name on the fantasy team sheet. His bowling prowess backed up his ability to go big with the bat makes him a good selection along with George Worker, who is due for a big performance for the Stags. Rachin Ravindra is also a handy option to have.

Bowlers: Hamish Bennett, Logan van Beek, Blair Tickner, and Ben Wheeler are the ideal set of bowlers to have in your side with all of them having the knack of picking wickets at regular intervals. Tickner has been brilliant for the CD with twelve wickets to show for his efforts. He should be one to keep an eye on. Seth Rance could also a be a viable option and could slot in for either Tickner or Wheeler.

Captain: Tom Bruce had a rare failure against the Knights and a player of his ability and reputation should bounce back emphatically. Along with Bruce, Worker is also another option to go with the captain.

Fantasy Suggestion #1: Tom Blundell(WK), Tom Bruce, Dean Foxcroft, Michael Bracewell, Doug Bracewell, George Worker, Rachin Ravindra, Ben Wheeler, Blair Tickner, Hamish Bennett, and Logan van Beek. Captain: Tom Bruce.

Fantasy Suggestion #2: Tom Blundell(WK), Tom Bruce, Michael Pollard, Will Young, Devon Conway, Doug Bracewell, George Worker, Seth Rance, Ben Wheeler, Hamish Bennett, and Jeetan Patel. Captain: George Worker
