The 118th edition of the IFA Shield, organised by the Indian Football Association (West Bengal), would be played from January 29 to February 11, 2014 in Kolkata. This years tournament would see eight teams competing for the title.
The organisers have been forced to replace Shillong Lajong FC with United Sikkim FC as the Shillong-based side pulled out of the tournament.
In Group A local sides East Bengal Club and United SC would face Geylang International FC (SINGAPORE) and Busan Kion Tong (SOUTH KOREA); while in Group B the local sides Mohun Bagan AC and Mohammedan Sporting Club would face United Sikkim FC and Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club (BANGLADESH).
