Bengaluru FC put on a 'five-star' performance against Aizawl FC

AFC Cup action continued on in the Group E as two Indian clubs - Bengaluru FC and Aizawl FC faced off at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru, India.

Bengaluru FC came into the match on the back of a loss against Maldivian champions New Radiant SC away from home and had to win to stay in the hunt for the top spot. Aizawl FC had drawn their last match against Bangladeshi club Abahani Dhaka.

Bengaluru FC stayed in the running for the Inter-Zone playoffs semi-finals as they beat Aizawl FC comfortably with a 5-0 scoreline.Daniel Segovia scored twice with Sunil Chhetri, Udanta Singh and Daniel Lahlimpuia adding a goal each to clinch three crucial points for Albert Roca's side.


Bengaluru FC

Lalthuammawia Ralte (5.5/10) - The Bengaluru FC keeper had a quiet first half of the match as Aizawl FC did not have any clear chances on the goal. The second half saw him called into action a couple of times but nothing that tested him to a great extent.

Nishu Kumar (6/10) - The versatile Nishu Kumar played on the right flank today as Bengaluru played a modified backline. He looked a constant threat on the flank with his runs and did well to support Udanta Singh up ahead of him.

Rahul Bheke (6/10) - The former East Bengal man played as the centre-back today and did well alongside Juanan as they earned a clean sheet. He was strong in his tackles and displayed great versatility transitioning from his usual right-back role into a centre-back position with ease.

Juanan (6.5/10) - The tough tackler in the Bengaluru FC backline held the fort at the back for the Blues as he marshalled the troops. He was strong in the air and thwarted off any aerial attacks from the Aizawl FC men.

Subhashish Bose (6.5/10) - The left-back was highly active up and down the flank as he kept asking questions of the Aizawl FC defence. He supported Sunil Chhetri on his flank well and put in good crosses for the target men inside the box.

Erik Paartalu (7/10) - The tall Aussie midfielder was an imposing figure in the Bengaluru FC midfield as he played up and down the pitch. He won a lot of balls in the centre of the park and even provided an assist for Daniel Segovia's first goal.

Boithang Haokip (5/10) - The former Mumbai City FC played on the right side of the midfield and did well with his movement in the middle. He was replaced in the final quarter of the match when Daniel Lahlimpuia came on.

Víctor Pérez (6.5/10) - The Spanish midfielder put in a hard-working shift in the Bengaluru FC midfield as he moved all across the pitch threading in passes all around. He got an assist to his name when his cross was headed in by Daniel Segovia.

Udanta Singh (7.5/10) - The 'Flash', as he is popularly known, was a danger on the flank for the Aizawl FC defence with his marauding runs on the flank. He put in a lot of crosses into the box for the strikers and even got a goal when he finished off an easy chance in the first half.

Daniel Segovia (8.5/10) - Spaniard striker Daniel Segovia was the target man for Bengaluru in the attack and got two well-taken goals in the match rounding off a strong performance up ahead.

Sunil Chhetri (9/10) - The Bengaluru skipper wreaked havoc on the Aizawl FC defence with his runs on the left flank. He earned and scored a penalty as well as created a goal in the first half of the match. Chhetri assisted again in the second half when he set up Daniel Lahlimpuia for the late goal.

Substitutes:

Harmanjot Khabra (3.5/10) - The right-back replaced Nishu Kumar in the 68th minute of the match in the first change made by Albert Roca in the game.

Daniel Lahlimpuia (6/10) - The substitute replaced Haokip and scored in the 89th minute making it 5-0 for the Bengaluru side with an easy finish.

Malsawmzuala (1/10) - The youngster came on in the added time to replace Udanta Singh in the attack.

Lalawmpuia (3.5/10) - The Aizawl FC keeper was under a constant barrage of attacks from the Bengaluru FC side and even conceded a penalty for a foul inside the box when he brought down Sunil Chhetri.

Lalram Hmunmawia (4/10) - The left-back of the Northeast Indian club was kept totally occupied by the dangerous Udanta Singh on his flank. He had to deal with the threat of Nishu Kumar as well who ventured with intent along the wings.

Masih Saighani (4/10) - The experienced Afghan defender was in for a troubled time in the central defence as Bengaluru FC exploited the holes in the Aizawl FC with great ease. He won some headers in the box but was unsuccessful to a large extent tonight in dealing with the Blues' attack.

Renthlei Laldinliana (4/10) - The young right-back had a tough time tonight having to deal with the red-hot Sunil Chhetri on his flank. This did not deter him from making charges in attack for the Reds as he had a couple of crosses for the attackers ahead.

Chawnghlut Lalrosanga (4.5/10) - The centre-back formed the defensive pairing with Saighani as they struggled to deal with the well-drilled Bengaluru FC attack. He marked Segovia in the match but could not contain the Spanish striker.

Khawlhring Lalthathanga (4/10) - The winger was a surprisingly quiet presence in the Aizawl FC midfield as he did not manage to have a considerable impact on the game, a stark contrast from his usual standards.

David Lalrinmuana (3/10) - The young midfielder had a short stint in today's match as he was subbed off in the 26th minute of the match when Sena Fanai came on to replace him in the midfield.

Alfred Kemah Jaryan (5/10) - The Aizawl FC man was a busy soul in the midfield as Bengaluru controlled the flow of play from the centre of the pitch. He worked hard to put in tackles and kickstart attacks for the Mizoram side but found it tough to get going.

Andrei Ionescu (5.5/10) - The Romanian midfielder was the creative source for whatever attack that Aizawl FC could muster up against the Bengaluru side. He tried to test Ralte in the Bengaluru goal with long-range shots but had no success.

Leonce Dodoz Zikahi (5/10) - The Ivorian winger was the man in charge of initiating the counter attacks for the Mizoram side. He created a couple of chances but generally found it tough to break past the organized Bengaluru defence.

Lalkhawpuimawia (4.5/10) - The lone man up front for Santosh Kashyap's side had an unproductive night as Aizawl FC barely managed a proper shot on target. He was subbed off in the final fifteen minutes when Lalnunfela came on to replace him in the attack.

Substitutes:

Liandala Sena Fanai (4.5/10) - The midfielder came on to replace Lalrinmuana in the first half of the match. He tried his best to deal with the Bengaluru midfielders but had a tough time.

William Lalnunfela (3/10) - The striker came on to replace Lalkhawpuimawia in the final 15 minutes of the match as Aizawl FC looked for a consolation goal.

Lalrawngbawla (1/10) - The defender came on to replace the injured Masih Saighani for the final minutes of the match.
