Churchill Brothers’ second highest scorer in the I-League, Akram Moghrabi, is set to leave the club for personal reasons and the Goan club intend to replace him with Afghanistan international striker Bilal Arezou.

Moghrabi was having a fantastic debut season in India as he managed 10 goals in 18 matches including a strike in the 2-2 draw against Prayag United last Sunday. But that match is likely to be his last for the Goan club as he wants to leave Indian football due to personal issues.

The loss of Moghrabi prompted Churchill to hold talks with Arezou and India captain Sunil Chhetri, who is also set to join the Goan club on loan from Sporting Lisbon ‘B’. Arezou is 24 years old and plays for Norwegian second division outfit Asker.

Churchill Brothers are also going to sign Senegalese defender Lamine Tamba. The former Mahindra United, Pune FC and Air India defender has been roped in as the replacement for Bilal Najjarin after Dutch defender Bas van den Brink failed to secure a move due to a knee injury.

The Goan club are a point behind league leaders East Bengal but have two games in hand and are also going to play in the AFC Cup.
