28-year-old midfielder Godwin Franco has signed a new three-year contract with the I-League side Dempo SC, which will keep him in his home state of Goa until 2016.

Godwin is a product of the Sesa Football Academy and he joined Dempo in 2010 on a three year contract after having played for Churchill Brothers SC, Sporting Clube de Goa and Pune FC at the top level.

On his new contract with Dempo, Godwin said, “First I want to thank God for my re-signing with Dempo SC for 3 years! I am happy at Dempo SC. Our chairman, Shrinivas Dempo, is a wonderful person, who is very supportive in every way.”

“Our new coach Arthur Papas is a very good coach! I am looking forward to the new season to give my best for our team,” Godwin added.

The Dempo’s no.7 had has some good games last season, but with some senior players set to leave, the club this could be Godwin’s chance to finally establish himself as a regular first eleven player and maybe push for a place with the Indian national team.
