I-League 1st Half Table: Bengaluru are top here too but United SC rock-bottom

With the Airtel I-League heading into a seven-week break, Sportskeeda has compiled an alternative league table based on the first half results of each side so far. The top two of the actual standings – Bengaluru FC and Sporting Clube – occupy those spots in this table also, clearly showing that they start their games well and thus would have been challenging for the title even if their matches ended at half time.

One of the biggest beneficiaries from this table would be struggling Kolkata giants Mohammedan Sporting as they are four points and four places better off. Eight placed United SC though are last in this table, having scored in the first half only twice while title favourites East Bengal are second from bottom but they have only played 11 games so far. The other big losers from this analysis are Shillong Lajong who have four points less than their actual tally.

Note: The 3-0 wins that were awarded to Pune FC and Bengaluru FC in their matches against Salgaocar, who were penalised for fielding unregistered players, have not been taken into account. Instead the actual scorelines of those two fixtures have been considered.

Interestingly this analysis doesn’t affect the actual top five much with only a slight difference in the order but relegation-threatened Churchill Brothers, Rangdajied United and Dempo would be placed higher based on their first half displays as all three of them have more points in this table.
