The Red and Golds might be sitting at the top of the I-League 2017-2018 points table, but their forwards have miserably failed to make an impact in the league. While Willis Deon Plaza has shined in patches, Brazilian Charles De Souza has missed too many goal scoring opportunities.

In the last encounter against Indian Arrows, Joby Justin had to be brought in as a replacement for Plaza who was nursing a hamstring injury which he picked up against Gokulam Kerala FC.

This has forced the East Bengal think tank to think differently and now they have reportedly turned their attention towards Nigerian Dudu Omagbemi, who incidentally had played for them a few seasons back.

If all goes according to plan, the Red & Gold fans can witness Dudu pairing up front with Plaza in the rest of the I-League fixtures. If he pens down the deal, it will be his second stint at East Bengal. During his first tenure, he managed to net nine goals in his 18 appearances with the Kolkata giants.

Dudu is one of the most decorated foreigners to have ever played in the I-League. He was the top scorer with Sporting Club De Goa and remains the only I-League player ever to have played in UEFA Champions League for Hungarian side Debreceni Vasutas Sports Club.
