What's the story?

After their derby win over arch-rivals East Bengal, Sanjoy Sen's Mohun Bagan are planning to file a report against the Red and Golds head coach Khalid Jamil. Mohun Bagan have allegedly accused Jamil for abusing their media manager and will report to the match commissioner to take necessary actions.

In case you didn't know...

Jamil scripted a chapter for himself in the history books when he guided Aizawl FC to the league title last season. It did not take too long for East Bengal to swoop in for the man in demand to boost their chances of winning a first national league title in the club's history.

However, he tasted defeat in his first experience of the Kolkata Derby yesterday when his men were beaten 1-0 after going behind to a goal from Kingsley towards the end of the first half at the Salt Lake Stadium.

Heart of the matter

The incident took place at around 8:30 in the morning, way before the derby was scheduled to kick-off. Jamil, who visited the stadium around the same time, wanted to enter the dressing room and was denied to do the same by Imran Khan, Bagan's media manager, who was assigned the duty of cleaning the rooms before the players arrived.

Imran conveyed that according to the rules, the dressing rooms can only be accessed by the teams 2 hours prior to kick-off while asking Jamil to come back later at the same time. As a result, a few heated words were exchanged between the duo and Jamil had reportedly abused Imran while venting out his frustration.

What's next?

The Mariners are said to be irked due to the incident and have already decided that they would be reporting the same to the match commissioner at the earliest.

Author's take

Any action taken against Jamil would only rub salt to the Red and Golds' wounds that they suffered at the hands of their rivals.
