I-League 2nd Division 2018 : Bengaluru FC 'B' pip Chennaiyin FC 'B' in ISL Reserves battle

Chennaiyin FC B suffered their fourth defeat in as many games in the I-League 2nd Division on Friday at the SSN College Ground, Chennai, when they faced Bengaluru FC B. The Blues from the Garden City, clinched a comfortable 3-1 win over the Marina Machans.

Chennaiyin FC has been in a pretty poor form, as they came into the game with three losses in three games in the league. The Machans lost 2-3 to Jamshedpur Reserves, 0-4 to Kolkata Giants Mohammedan SC and 1-2 to Langsning FC earlier.

On the contrary, the Bengaluru side only played Langsning FC so far in a 1-1 draw. With today's win over Chennaiyin FC, the Jindal Steel Works owned side, have notched up their first win in the league.

The Blues from Garden City started the game on a positive note with several shots at goal, and half chances at their disposal. However, the young Chennaiyin managed to hold them for the majority of the first half, until, Prasanth Kalinga scored a tremendous solo goal at the 40th minute to put Bengaluru ahead.

Lamgoulen Hangshing doubled the lead late into additional time in the first half.

With two quick goals on the cusp of half-time, Bengaluru FC were high on confidence in the second half. With crisp wing play and pinpoint passing, Bengaluru came close to extend their lead to 3-0 but were denied by some heroics by goalkeeper Sayak Barai.

The Blues kept on piling pressure and finally made it 3-0 at the 89th minute.

Prosenjit Chakraborty scored a consolation goal in the 92nd minute to reduce the deficit by 2 goals.

Bengaluru FC Reserves face Jamshedpur FC Reserves on April 11th at the Bengaluru Football Stadium, Bengaluru, while Chennaiyin FC Reserves will look to register their first win in the event when they cross swords with Manipur side Tiddim Road Athletic Union (TRAU), on 12th April at the Khuman Lampak Stadium, Imphal.
