I-League: Bengaluru FC held as Mohun Bagan score a dramatic last minute equaliser

Chinadorai Sabeeth scored a dramatic last minute equaliser to help Mohun Bagan salvage a point in a 1-1 draw against the I-league newcomers Bengaluru FC at the Bangalore Football Stadium.

The home team looked well on its way to register their first victory, thanks to the goal from Sean Rooney, till Sabeeth intervened in the extra time to reverse the fortunes much to the disappointment of the home fans, who had thronged the stadium.

Early into the game, Katsumi Yusa saw his penalty saved by the Bengaluru FC goalkeeper Pawan Kumar. The first half saw no goals, as both the teams had quite a number of chances which they failed to convert.

As soon as the second half resumed, Sean Rooney gave Bengaluru F.C the lead in the 50th minute. The home team was awarded a penalty soon with Rooney getting a great chance to double the lead. However, Mohun Bagan goalkeeper Sandip Nandy was upto the mark on this occasion to keep his team’s hopes alive.

Towards the dying minutes of the game, Sunil Chhetri missed a glorious opportunity to seal the game for the I-league newcomers. At the end of the day, Bengaluru only have themselves to blame for missing out on clear-cut chances.
