I-League champions Churchill Brothers have already started to look ahead to the new season by signing midfielders Micky Fernandes and Anthony Barbosa.

29-year-old Micky, a former India international, returns to Goa after spending a year at Air India. The central midfielder has previously had spells at Salgaocar, Sporting Clube and Dempo, and thus will join a distinguished list of having played for four different Goan clubs in the top flight.

23-year-old wide midfielder Anthony played for Salgaocar last season, but the 2010-11 campaign remains his best by far as he played a key role in their I-League triumph and also earned a call-up to the senior national team during Armando Colaco’s reign; however, he didn’t get to make his international debut.

The signings of these two midfielders is the first real piece of business that the Red Machines have done so far this summer. They are yet to finalise their head coach for next season, as technical director Subhash Bhowmick could be leaving the club.
