India international Raju Gaikwad cleared of drunken brawl charge

India and East Bengal defender Raju Gaikwad has been cleared of the drunken brawl charge that saw him got detained by the Bidhan Nagar East Police station in Kolkata late on Friday night.

Raju, along with another footballer Subhodeep Goon, was detained for their involvement in a drunken brawl. But the duo was only questioned with a general diary being filed and released on Friday night itself.

22-year-old Raju, who has captained Indian Arrows and India U-23 previously, also attended Saturday’s morning training session at the East Bengal club ground.

“No FIR was lodged against the two and the matter was sorted last night itself,” said a police officer of the Bidhan Nagar Commissionerate.
