ISL 2017/18: Bengaluru FC star Miku emerges as the highest paid player in Indian Super League

The Indian Super League is on in full swing and has witnessed some brilliant football from the teams. The fact that the ISL players earn in high bucks is no secret. However, there is no doubt that fans will be enthralled to know how much their favourites players in actual figures.

Recently, the official ISL website released the actual salaries of each player, giving an insight into how much each one earned exactly. The details of all 10 teams were mentioned, with each player's details comprising their salary as well as their tenure in the club.

Interestingly, Bengaluru FC's Miku stands out as the highest paid player in ISL. The Venezuelan striker earns a whopping Rs 3.17 crore (499,930 USD) per season. The 32-year-old joined Bengaluru FC on a two-year contract in August 2017 and since then has made a very impressionable image for himself in the league.

This overall income of the footballer sees him overpowering the likes of veteran players such as Robbie Keane and Dimitar Berbatov, who follow quite closely behind. While Keane earns Rs 2.5 crore (400,000 USD), Berbatov follows with an income of Rs 2.2 Crores (358,492 USD) every season.

Amongst the Indian players, Bengaluru FC's Sunil Chhetri earns the highest, taking home a sum of Rs1 .5 crore, while Jeje Lalpheklua of Chennayin FC follows with a Rs 1.3 crore income. These Indian players are closely followed by the likes of Anas Edatodika and Sandesh Jhingan.

Looking at the salaries of the ISL players each season, one can say that Bengaluru FC houses two of the most expensive players. While the overall highest paid player of the Indian Super League is Venezuela's Miku, Sunil Chhetri stands as the highest paid Indian.

Bengaluru FC spent close to Rs 15 crores just on the salaries of the players, while Mumbai City FC spent Rs 15.2 crore. With ATK shelling out Rs 15.3 crores this season, these 3 teams spent the highest on their players.
