After fluffing a handful of chances to take the lead, Jamshedpur FC finally buried a penalty and secured a crucial 1-0 win over ATK in Sunday's ISL encounter.

Trindade Gonsalves successful spot-kick sees Jamshedpur overtake Mumbai City FC in the points table.

Steve Coppell's men now have 19 points and move to fifth place, the same FC Goa who have played two games less.

Here are the major talking points from tonight's game.

#1 Jamshedpur's players unleash from distance early on

Steve Coppell's men came into this match on the back of a tough loss against FC Pune City but that didn't deter them one bit tonight. The visitors employed an interesting tactic early on in the game.

Wellington Priori, Trindade and Azuka all attempted long-range efforts in the hope of catching ATK keeper, Debjit by surprise. Between them, they shared 5 shots from distance inside the first 15 minutes, thereby signalling their intent from the get-go.

ATK found it extremely difficult to hold on to the ball while Jamshedpur continued to pepper the goal from distance. It was an unusual approach from a side who are usually very rigid in their approach.

#2 Wafer thin squad impacts ATK's game-play

<p>

Robbie Keane, Zequinha and Ryan Taylor, three of ATK's most important players sat out tonight's game due to niggles and injuries. If taking charge mid-season wasn't challenging enough, new manager, Ashley Westwood's options have been few and far between.

The trio who missed tonight's game have been at the heart of ATK's attack on multiple occasions. Without them, the home side looked pedestrian and lacked ideas when venturing forward.

In fact, they made Jamshedpur look extremely good, who were spraying the ball to all parts of the pitch. The visitors treated the first half like a game of 5v5 rink football game. When in possession, they were rarely pressed and had all the time in the world to orchestrate their attacks.

#3 Izu Azuka denied clear-cut goal

While the referees this season have constantly come under fire for their substandard officiating, tonight it was the linesman's turn to bear the brunt of a school-boy error. Wellington Priori who was looking extremely lively in the first half unleashed a venomous shot from outside the box.

ATK keeper, Debjit did extremely well to parry the stinging ball way but it fell kindly to Izu Azuka who made no mistake, burying his effort from close range into an empty net.

But the goal didn't stand as the linesman deemed Azuka to be in an offside position. Replays showed that Izu was clearly onside. Jamshedpur who dominated the first half were denied a clear-cut goal.

#4 Jamshedpur kept hopelessly banging on the door

The visitors tried everything but the ball would just not go in. After being denied a goal in the first half, Coppell's men hit the post and were denied a penalty in the second. It was a testing night for the men in blue.

To make matters worse, they came ever so close to taking the lead on multiple occasions but fluffed their chances in the final third. Trindade Goncalves even hit the post much to his annoyance.

The manner in which Jamshedpur were dominating the game was impressive. But what was equally frustrating for them was the manner in which they lost steam in the final third. For one reason or another, the team lacked that killer instinct to finish off their well-worked moves.

#5 ATK's poor home run continues

After tonight's loss, the Kolkata based outfit have managed just a single win in last six home games. ATK are now closer to the bottom-placed team (Delhi Dynamos - 7 points) than to Kerala Blasters (17), the closest team above them.

Ashley Westwood will need to pull a rabbit out of his hat to plug their poor run for they have four consecutive games at home coming up after today. Bit by bit, their chances of a playoff spot seem less likely.

While mathematically it's still very much possible, ATK will need to make the most of the upcoming games on their own soil. Tonight, they looked uninterested and uninspired against a determined Jamshedpur outfit. it's only going to get harder from here on.
