The seventh week of ISL 2017 has come to an end and we have witnessed some superb performances in the four games that were played.

In this article, we look at five strikers whose performances were worthy of a praise.

Jeje Lalpekhlua

Jeje converted the penalty against Jamshedpur FC to snatch three crucial points for his team. The 26-year-old has scored four goals in his last three starts highlighting his poacher instincts and awareness in the box with Chennaiyin FC winning both of those matches. The highest Indian goalscorer in ISL is Chennaiyin FC’s top scorer this season and has already surpassed his last season’s tally. Jeje worked hard closing down defenders, he also held the ball well allowing teammates to join the attack. Jeje was also heavily involved in the move that helped Chennaiyin FC win the penalty.

Sunil Chhetri

The Indian captain scored a spot kick against Kerala Blasters to open the account in the southern derby and was instrumental in the attacking third. The 33-year-old has already formed a decent partnership with fellow striker Miku which bodes well for Bengaluru FC in the matches to come. The Indian with the highest number of goals at the international level has so far contributed with four strikes and an assist. His threat in the penalty box in ISL 2017/18 can be highlighted by the fact that he has attempted 25 shots, most by any player in this season.

Balwant Singh

The Mumbai City FC forward scored yet again against Delhi Dynamos capping off a fine individual display. Balwant as always worked hard upfront and was a nuisance for the Delhi Dynamos defence with his fast paced movement in front of the goal. Balwant was lucky to score the goal against Delhi as the goal-keeper, Arnab Das Sharma scuffed his shot and the ball crept into the back of the net. The 31-year-old has now scored four goals and is the top Indian scorer of ISL 2017/18. His goal scoring feats are even more impressive as he has not always played as a centre forward.

Miku

The Venezuelan striker wasn't at his best against Chennaiyin FC and Jamshedpur FC but he proved his class and enjoyed a much better outing against Kerala Blasters scoring twice helping Bengaluru FC to return to winning ways. The former Getafe striker displayed lethal finishing skills duly scoring two goals. It was his third brace of the season. He has now scored eight goals and is second highest scorer of ISL 2017/18.

Marcelinho: After a lean patch, Marcelinho roared back to form with a brilliant hattrick against NorthEast United helping FC Pune City record their first win at home. The Brazilian was fast on his feat and displayed clinical finishing skills which proved too good for NorthEast’s defence. The 31-year old has now scored five goals. The FC Pune City captain has also contributed with four assists, the joint highest in this edition. Last season’s top scorer has hauled himself back into contention for this year’s Golden Boot award with this hattrick.
