ISL 2017: Mumbai City FC co-owner Ranbir Kapoor engages in banter with Bengaluru FC fans

What's the story?

Bengaluru FC kicked off their first-ever ISL 2017 campaign with a win over Mumbai City FC at home, with two goals from Edu Garcia and Sunil Chhetri enough to ensure three points for the Blues. Their fans were in full voice at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium and were even involved in a hilarious incident involving Ranbir Kapoor, who is the co-owner of the Mumbai side.

According to reports, the star actor was booed by the supporters at the game, which were jovial in nature. Kapoor responded in fine style to the ringing boos, blowing kisses in response, showing that he was up to the task when it came to banter.

The side from Bengaluru faced Mumbai City FC in their ISL 2017 curtain-raiser. After a goal-less first half, Albert Roca's side took home the three points thanks to Edu Garcia's near-post finish in the 67th minute and captain Sunil Chhetri's goal in injury time.

The Bengaluru home fans are known for their passionate support towards their side and also the intimidating atmosphere they create during the match with their chants and banners. However, some fans were also angry at the incident and criticized the BFC supporters.

The match also saw them involved in a controversy involving Kerala Blasters fans, where there were claims of the BFC fans singing unsavoury chants directed towards the Kerala fans.

However, there was no such issue in this incident as both the fans and Ranbir Kapoor took the situation in the right manner.

Bengaluru FC face off against the Delhi Dynamos in their next match at home on November 26. The side from Mumbai play FC Goa on November 25 in their next game.

Such light-hearted incidents are heartening to see and are good for the overall game in the country. Kapoor took the boos in a sporting manner and his response to the fans was brilliant to see!
