FC Goa officially confirmed the signing of 27-year-old Moroccan footballer Zaid Krouch on their Twitter handle. The signing is expected to bolster FC Goa's midfield and help Sergio Lobera and his troops in creating more opportunities.
What is to be noted is that the Spanish Manager has spent a lot of time with Zaid as he was in charge of the Moghreb Tétouan before taking up coaching duties for FC Goa. The 41-year-old was with the Moroccan football club from 29 December 2014 to 30 June 2017.
Meanwhile, the attacking midfielder Zaid was with Moghreb Tétouan since 2011 until he signed for The Gaurs.
Sportskeeda had earlier reported Miguel Palanca Fernandez' move to ATK on loan from FC Goa. The Spaniard was not getting much playing time under Lobera and will now try and bolster ATK's midfield.
It was rumoured that the motive behind the move was to bring in Zaid Krouch. And now the signing of the midfielder has been confirmed by FC Goa via a short video of completing a jigsaw puzzle. Here is the video snip:
In fact, ATK's Noussair El Maimouni also plied his trade with Moghreb Tétouan for seven years before making a move to the ISL.
Zaid is also expected to bring a lot to the plate for FC Goa. Lobera also knows his strengths and his knack for both scoring goals and being the provider. In his 119 appearances for Moghreb in the Botola Pro (first tier league of Moroccan football), the attacking midfielder scored 15 goals and assisted another 11. Zaid also made 2 appearances for Morocco U23 side.
He has also played with fellow Moroccan player Ahmed Jahouh at Moghreb Tétouan and will be reuniting with him at FC Goa. Hugo Boumous, who is enjoying a great ISL campaign with 2 goals and 4 assists so far, is another player who has played with Zaid at Moghreb Tétouan in the past.
It is now up to Sergio Lobera how to use the three ex-Moghreb Tétouan players to maximum effect. There will be no dearth of providers for Ferran Corominas, who is currently the league's top scorer with 10 goals in as many matches.
The Gaurs are currently ranked at 3rd position on the ISL table with 6 wins, 2 draws, and 3 losses from their 11 matches. They are the side to score the maximum number of goals (27) so far in ISL 2018-19. With the arrival of Zaid, one can only expect the free-flowing goals to continue for Sergio Lobera and his troops.
