I-League 2018: Shylo Malsawmtluanga to run a football academy in Aizawl

Whenever the name Shylo Malsawmtluanga pops up, the word 'legend’ follows. Now the Aizawl FC winger will run his own ‘M28 Football Academy’ in collaboration with two government schools starting from April 2018.

“I plan to start the football academy once the new school session starts in April. It will be in collaboration with two government schools and I will hire coaches to provide football coaching. I know the importance of maintaining a balance between formal education and football coaching. Hopefully, I will succeed ” Shylo Malsawmtluanga or fondly known as Mama told Sportskeeda.

The M28 Football Academy, which reads ‘M’ as in ‘Mama’ and, '28’ for his iconic jersey number. It will provide coaching to selected students of Govt. Aizawl High School and Govt. Republic Middle School, (both located at Republic Veng in Republic Veng field itself), once their regular classes are over. Apart from football, the aspirants will also be taught English and Hindi so that language doesn’t turn out to be a barrier in the future.

The former East Bengal star graced Upa Lalrinliana Memorial Football Trophy final as Guest of Honour today here in Republic Veng field where he requested the support of Mizo people and in particular parents of students studying in the said schools to send their students for football classes so that they may prosper.

“Today I saw many talented and aspiring youths who want to take up football as their career. With talent, hard work and determination, there is no doubt that you will be successful one day,” he stressed.

Tata Football Academy graduate Mama, has three more months left in his contract with Aizawl FC. “ I haven’t decided my future but I always wanted to be associated with football,” he concluded.

A football professional since 2002, Mama has plied his trade for East Bengal on two stints, for Mohun Bagan, Salgaocar, United SC and Delhi Dynamos apart from Aizawl FC and has won numerous accolades throughout his career.
